Vatn Systems introduced SIGURD, a modular autonomous system for naval mine countermeasures, built on the Skelmir S6 underwater vehicle platform.
The system combines mine detection and neutralization capabilities in configurations that can operate independently or together. Its design brings the vehicle, sensing and control functions into a common architecture, with the aim of making mine countermeasures more affordable and practical to deploy at scale.
The July 2026 announcement described government-customer testing and development by a team with Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal experience. SIGURD extends the S6 platform into a dedicated mission while retaining Vatn's broader modular approach.
