Vatn Systems announced its acquisition of Crewless Marine, a Rhode Island company specializing in underwater acoustic sensing and signal processing.
The acquisition brings expertise in hydrophones, embedded hardware, acoustic processing and data fusion into Vatn's engineering organization. These capabilities support the sensing and interpretation of underwater signals, complementing the company's autonomous vehicle and navigation technologies.
The January 2026 announcement identified the transaction as part of Vatn's strategy to develop more of its technology internally, reduce supply-chain dependencies and accelerate system development. Financial terms were not disclosed.
